Restoration of Termite Eaten Wood
Formosan termites are the most aggressive and destructive timber pests in the United States. It is an imported species, native to China, and likely arrived in Honolulu by 1869. Much more dangerous than dry wood termites, the cost to prevent or control infestations and to repair the damage in Hawaii caused by this pest are in excess of $200 million a year.
Subsequent to treatment by an exterminator, RCM Construction is often called upon to restore the damage in structural wood members caused by the voracious insects.
Small pieces of wood such as trim around doors and windows can be more economically replaced; however, replacement is often impractical for larger wood members such as beams. We remedy these problems with epoxy injection.
